Jo Harman

Quotes

Widely regarded as one of Europe's finest ever vocalists-composers, genre defying JO HARMAN is an international touring and recording artist who has played many prestigious festivals and venues internationally. The Mirror proclaimed her 'UK's finest female soul blues voice' who, according to Country Magazine, writes 'lip-biting beautiful songs'.

A multi award winning/nominated performer, Jo has achieved considerable success at home and abroad, headlining dozens of prestigious venues and festivals throughout Europe and beyond - including Cartagena jazz, and Cheltenham jazz  - as well playing as one of eleven (otherwise household named) artists to 300k people at Parkpop, in the Hague. Amongst many other highlights, Jo was asked to perform for, and alongside, Joan Baez at Amnesty International's prestigious 'Ambassador of Conscience' awards in Berlin, and, more recently, Jo was also asked by Festival Director Leo Green to open Live Nation's BluesFest at the O2 Arena (marking a record 5th consecutive appearance at the Festival, previously staged at the Royal Albert Hall).

Proper Music Distribution group awarded the then unknown artist's debut album 'Dirt On My Tongue'  'best blues album of the year' (ahead of many legendary names) and her second studio album 'People We Album', recorded in Nashville with legendary producer Fred Mollin, achieved similar critical acclaim and commercial success. Indeed the lead single, 'When We Were Young' (featuring Michael McDonald) achieved BBC Radio 2 play-listing, as well as play listing on other mainstream national stations across Europe. Both albums made various 'best of' lists, internationally.

Apart from working with soul superstar Michael Mcdonald, Jo was asked to duet on 'Reach Out (I'll Be There)' with the songs co-composer, Motown song-writing legend Lamont Dozier, the lead single from his 'Re-imagination' album which also features Gregory Porter, Graham Nash, Todd Rundgren, Rumer and other notable international names.

More recently, Jo was also asked to swap vocal licks with multi million selling US Soul Superstar Will Downing as part of an all star version of the Isley's classic. 'Work To Do' as the only Brit to be invited to perform alongside a host of legendary US sidemen and artists associated with Tower Of Power, Snarky Puppy, Hall and Oates, Average White Band and more.
